LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky volleyball team will conclude its four-match road swing with a 2:30 p.m. ET meeting with Southeastern Conference Western Division leaders LSU, Sunday. The squads split their meetings a season ago, but UK has won six of the previous eight matchups with the Tigers.
Kentucky (13-3, 4-1 SEC) is coming off a 3-1 victory at Arkansas Friday evening. With the win over the Razorbacks, UK captured a win in 11 of its 12 matches during the month of September. LSU dropped a 3-1 match to No. 23 Tennessee Friday night in a match of the remaining undefeated teams in the SEC.
Junior Ashley Frazier charted a season-high 18 kills in the win in Fayetteville, Ark. She currently leads the team with 2.91 kills per set for the season. Setter Christine Hartmann dishes out 10.90 assists per set with six players recording 2.02 kills per stanza or more.
Sophomore Whitney Billings led the team with 15 digs in the win at Arkansas and has totaled 10 or more digs in a match 20 times in her career including nine this season. Sophomore Jessi Greenberg tallied 10 digs in the match and reached double-figures in league play for the first time in her career.
LSU enters the matchup with Kentucky owning a 10-4 overall record and a 3-1 mark in league play. Desiree Elliott anchors the attack with 3.53 kills per set and Madie Jones averages 3.48 hammers per stanza for a team that strikes for 13.86 a frame. Michele Williams leads the SEC with 1.17 blocks per set.
In a long-standing competitive series, UK edges the Tigers with a 29-22 overall record, and a 7-5 mark in the Skinner era. UK has won six of the previous eight meetings in the series. The squads split in their matches a season ago with both home teams taking away the victory.
Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 9-10. UK is one of four sites selected for Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, from the Lexington Region. Opening night matches are scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m. ET. Saturday’s finals is set for a 4:30 p.m. ET first serve.
Tickets are now on sale through the UK Ticket Office. All-Session Tickets are reserved for all ages at $14. General Admission tickets for adults are priced at $12 and students or seniors’ general admission is slated for $8.
Single session tickets are priced at $8 for reserved for all ages. General admission for adults is priced at $7, with students and seniors priced at $5. Youth single session tickets are $4.
