Women's Tennis

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Despite the chilly 40-degree weather, the University of Kentucky women’s tennis team put on strong performances in their second day of play in the UK Invitational. Sophomore Misha Testerman led the wildcats with dominating performances in both singles and doubles play.

Testerman began the day with a doubles match, pairing up with fellow sophomore CeCe Witten to take on Kara Sherwood and Nicole Janek of Cleveland State University. The duos battled to the end, but Kentucky ultimately took the, 9-7, win.

Testermen transferred her success to her singles match. After being one of only three wildcats to move on to the second round of singles play, Testerman ended the day as the only wildcat remaining in the main singles draw. She played Mengdi Liu of CSU, and won easily, 6-0, 6-2. She will move on to the final for her draw tomorrow.

Four other wildcats brought home wins in singles play. After losing in their first rounds yesterday, Stephanie Fox, Caitlin McGraw, Lyndsey Picket and Witten all turned around their performances to win their consolation matches in straight sets.

Fox and McGraw also found great success in doubles consolation play, defeating Milena Poffo and Saioa Oscoz of Eastern Kentucky University, 8-2.
