The Wildcats host Southeast Missouri (4-1-0) in the championship game after both teams won their Friday night matches. Kentucky defeated Louisville 2-0, while the Redhawks beat Butler 1-0.
Following an emotional victory against the Cardinals, UK head coach Jon Lipsitzlet his charges celebrate the moment on the field, but quickly turned their attention to the Redhawks.
“I let them enjoy this until we got into the locker room,” Lipsitz said. “Now we have to prepare for Sunday. We respect Southeast Missouri. They are a great team, we respect them a lot; they have one loss on the year to a team that is in the top five of the RPI right now. We have to be ready.”
A win for the Cats would equal their best start to a season since the 2001 campaign.
Kentucky has faced Southeast Missouri one time in program history, which resulted in a 2-1 SEMO victory in the 2002 season.
UK won the Cardinal Classic last week in Louisville.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET. A live stream will be available at UKathletics.com/allaccess. Live stats will also be available at UKathletics.com.
Louisville and Butler will play in the consolation game, scheduled to begin at noon.
