LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the third consecutive season the Kentucky volleyball team will appear on a live national telecast airing on ESPNU. The network selected the Oct. 12 match with Tennessee visiting Lexington for an 8 p.m. ET broadcast.

This also marks the third straight season ESPN has selected a Kentucky-Tennessee match to air on a Wednesday night telecast.

“It’s exciting to be on ESPNU again,” UK coach Craig Skinner said. “They always do a great job of covering SEC volleyball. Our matches with Tennessee always attract terrific crowds, so this should be another exciting atmosphere.”

For the first time, ESPNU will air every Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball game in high definition. Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball, which first aired on ESPNU last year, will also feature two doubleheaders and eight of the top 25 ranked NCAA teams according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) most recent poll, during the eight-week series.

Coverage of the 2011 women’s volleyball season across ESPNU and ESPN2 will include 17 games, 11 of which feature a ranked team. The regular season schedule showcases six Southeastern Conference, four Big 12, three Big 10, two Atlantic Coast Conference games and one game apiece for the BIG EAST and Western Athletic Conference.

In addition to the ESPNU schedule, the SEC will announce more television appearances for volleyball in the upcoming days.

The UK volleyball team is set to open the 2011 season in Tallahassee, Fla., at the Florida State Invitational Aug. 26. The Wildcats will take on Albany, Tulsa and the host Seminoles in a two-day round-robin tournament.

Kentucky’s home opener is slated for Aug. 30 when the Blue and White welcome Cincinnati to Memorial Coliseum for a 7 p.m. ET tilt.
