OXFORD, Miss. — The Kentucky softball team’s apperance in the Southeastern Conference Tournament was brief.
UK, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, lost 4-1 to No. 3 seed Tennessee on Thursday in the first game of the leauge tournament. The Volunteers are ranked No. 6 nationally.
Kentucky pitchers Chanda Bell and Rachel Riley limited Tennessee’s bats to eight hits, but UK left nine runners on base and could never capitalize on offense.
The Cats will now await to hear word on an at-large berth for the NCAA Tournament. UK is expected to hear its name called on Sunday for a third straight season during the selection show.
