LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari and his staff will travel around the state of Kentucky in June to teach the game of basketball to the youth of the Commonwealth with an upcoming series of basketball instructional day camps.
The tour will include 10 sessions in seven cities, beginning with a June 20 stop in Bowling Green (Bowling Green HS) and Bardstown (Nelson County HS). The tour will head to Newport (Newport Central Catholic) and Independence (Twenhofel Middle School) for a session in each location on June 21, followed by stops in London (North Laurel HS) and Danville (Danville HS) on June 22.
The camp tour will continue on June 23 in Louisville at Christian Academy for a pair of sessions and will conclude on June 24 in Pikeville (Pikeville HS) and Hazard (Perry Central HS).
The camps, which will include instruction from the Kentucky Basketball coaching staff, allow participants to learn the game of basketball through a fundamental, intensive learning environment. The camps will give individuals the chance to learn more about the game of basketball, introducing drills that can be used at home.
Open to children in kindergarten through sixth grades, each session will also help the individuals develop positive attitudes, as well as gain more confidence on and off the court. In addition to learning the game, participants will receive a Kentucky Basketball t-shirt, as well as opportunities for autographs and photos.
