Team Records and Series Notes

•    Kentucky improves their record to 19-22 in 2011, while Louisville falls to 22-17 on the season.
•    Kentucky now has an all-time record of 66-33-1 vs. Louisville. The Wildcats have now defeated the Cards in 26 of the last 36 games.
•    Kentucky won the previous meeting of the season 3-2 back on April 12th at Tim Patterson Stadium, and has now completed its first sweep of Louisville since the 2006 season.
•    The Cats have now won three of their last four games.
•    UK head coach Gary Henderson is now 78-73 in his coaching career.
•    The Wildcats are now 1659-1425-25 in NCAA play all-time.

Team Game Notes

•    UK now has a 14-6 record when scoring first in 2011.
•    Kentucky scored three runs in the first inning. It was the third-most runs UK has scored in the opening frame behind the six runs they scored in the first against Xavier on April 5th, and four runs against Tennessee Tech on March 29th.
•    UK is now 16-8 in non-conference games this season, including 13-2 in non-conference games played at home.
•    The Wildcats are now 17-7 at Cliff Hagan Stadium in 2011.  
•    Kentucky is now 8-1 this season when playing on Tuesday.
•    Taylor Black, Chad Wright, and Braden Kapteyn continued to be the only Wildcats to start all 41 games this season for UK.
•    When Louisville tallied their lone run in the seventh inning, it was the first time Louisville has scored a run at Cliff Hagan Stadium since the top of eighth inning in 2009. That stretch lasted 19 innings of scoreless baseball for Louisville in Lexington.
•    UK is now 15-15 when facing a starting right-handed pitcher.
•    Kentucky improves to 7-7 during night games.
•    The win gave Kentucky their third win of the year over the Big East Conference. The Cats have not lost a game this year vs. a Big East school as they also defeated Louisville in the first of the home-and-home and Cincinnati earlier in the year.
•    Kentucky’s next game is Thursday night as the Cats will travel to Baton Rouge, La. to take on the LSU Tigers. The game’s telecast will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU, and ESPNUHD as part of the SEC on ESPN. Dave Neal and Kyle Peterson will call the action for TV. Also, the voice of UK Baseball, Neil Price will be calling the game on WLAP 630-AM and streamed live on UKathletics.com. Coverage will begin at 7:25 p.m.

Individual Game Notes

•    Taylor Black started his 82nd straight game at shortstop which is a team-high for most consecutive games started at one position.
o    Laced a double down the left-field line, opening the scoring for the Wildcats.
o    It was his 11th double of the season, and team-high equaling 16th two-strike hit of the year.
•    Jordan Cooper earned his third victory of the 2011 season, upping his record to 3-1.
o    Picked off Cole Sturgeon after allowing him to reach base with a walk. It was his team-high tying third pick-off of the year.
o    Had a no-hitter working through the first four innings, before J.J. Ethel tallied a hit for Louisville to lead off the fifth.
o    Has pitched 19.2 innings for UK against Louisville in his career, and has only allowed one earned run.
o    Earned his fifth quality start for the 2011 season.
•    J.T. Riddle hit a sacrifice to center field to plate Black for UK’s second run of the game.
o    It was his 23rd RBI of the season
o    Stole his sixth base of the season, making him 6-for-7 in 2011 when attempting to swipe a base.
•    Braden Kapteyn laced his sixth home run of the season to left-center field to give the Wildcats the 4-0 lead at the time.
o    Started off the game 2-for-2 with a single in the first, and then a solo home run in the second inning.
o    Was 3-for-4 on the night.
o    Scored two of the Wildcats seven runs.
•    Chad Wright laced a single through the right side of the infield, for his 50th hit of the season.
o    He has now reached base safely in 39 of his last 42 games.
o    Recorded his 12th career outfield assist when he nailed JJ Ethel at third base.
o    Went 3-for-5, scored two runs, and had a double, his 11th of the year.
•    Luke Maile blasted his team-high seventh home run of the year to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning
o    The homer gave UK a 5-0 lead at the time.
o    Drew two walks in the game.
