LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 15th-ranked Kentucky softball team will be searching to achieve more history to its already remarkable 2011 campaign when Ole Miss visits Wednesday for a doubleheader. UK is one win shy of matching a single-season program record for victories in a single year. First pitch for game one is slated for a 4:06 p.m. ET start.

Wednesday’s matchup with Ole Miss marks the final mid-week competition of the regular season for the Blue and White. The games will be televised by CSS with Matt Stewart and Cheri Kempf on the call.

The Wildcats (35-11, 13-7 Southeastern Conference) have clinched a spot in the upcoming SEC Tournament for a school-record third consecutive season. UK is now playing for seeding and with eight remaining conference games can finish anywhere from first through eighth.

Kentucky charted its fifth SEC series in a 2-for-3 weekend at South Carolina to set a new mark in that category. Previously, UK had captured four series in a single season on three other occasions including both the 2009 and 2010 campaigns.

The senior class combined for five home runs at South Carolina to push the team total to 60 for the year to set a new mark. UK also plated 10 RBI on the weekend to set a new standard in a single year in that category. Junior Brittany Cervantes and seniors Samantha DeMartine and Megan Yocke became the first trio of players to hit 10 or more round trippers in a single year. Senior Meagan Aull can become the fourth different player to achieve that mark after going yard for the ninth time this season in the opening game of the series against the Gamecocks.

Aull is currently in the midst of an 11-game hitting streak, the best of her career. Furthermore the senior from Owensboro, Ky., has charted at least one hit in all but six games this season for UK.

UK is 12-1 playing in the friendly confines of the UK Softball Complex. Kentucky swept Florida in a three-game series in the last competition in league play on UK’s home field.

Ole Miss travels to Lexington with a 14-36 overall record and a 3-20 mark in league action.

The Rebels are led at the plate by RT Cantillo’s .317 batting clip. London Ladner leads the team with five home runs and 20 RBI. The Rebels as an offensive unit own a .240 batting average with 16 home runs and 39 stolen bases.

The pitching staff is paced by Lindsey Perry’s 11-3 mark and 3.07 ERA. Kendall Bruning has struck out a squad-best 126 batters.

The Wildcats have won the series with Ole Miss in each of the last four seasons, marking the most consecutive series won over a single team in school history.
