LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s basketball finished 11th nationally in average attendance according to the official attendance rankings kept by the NCAA. It marked UK’s highest ranking since leading the nation in attendance in 1982-83. It also marked the eighth-straight season the Wildcats have ranked in the top 25 nationally and in the Southeastern Conference’s top four.
“I’ve said this many times that our fans are the most passionate and loyal fans in the country,” UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell said. “We appreciate them so much as they help make Memorial Coliseum one of the most exciting places to play, giving us a true home-court advantage.”
With 95,453 fans in 15 home games this year, UK set a new single-season average of 6,364 fans per game, besting the school-record average of 5,863 set in 2006-07. An average of 6,596 fans attended eight SEC home contests. The only SEC school with higher a attendance average was nationally-ranked Tennessee which led the nation with 12,537 fans per game. The Wildcats finished with a 13-2 home record, including a 6-2 mark in league play.
A season high of 7,646 attended UK’s “WBCA Pink Zone” game vs. LSU on Feb. 13, the seventh-largest crowd in Memorial Coliseum history.
