LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team got a win in singles play from freshman Khristina Blajkevitch, but could not pull off the upset at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center over the No. 38 South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, falling 6-1.
Blajkevitch continued her strong freshman season with her co-team leading eighth singles victory. Blajkevitch took down Madeleine Saari-Bystrom of South Carolina in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. The victory was the Victoria, Canada, native’s fifth in Southeastern Conference play, the most on the team.
South Carolina swept the doubles point and continued its hot play in singles to capture the match 6-1.
Kentucky will head south to Arkansas on Friday to face Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cats will then go against LSU two days later in Baton Rouge, La.
