Individual Game Notes
Taylor Black started his 61st straight game at shortstop which is a team-high for most consecutive games started at one position.
o Went 2-for-4 at the plate.
o Also recorded a walk for the Wildcats.
Corey Littrell earned his third win of the 2011 season to improve his record to 3-1 on the season.
o Struck out Sam Vandenheuvel on three pitches in the top of the second inning after allowing a triple to the previous batter to get out of the jam.
o Got out of a bases loaded and nobody out situation, only allowing one run in the top of the fifth inning. He recorded two swinging strikeouts to help him allude the trouble.
o Faced 27 batters in six innings of work, allowing only one run, eight hits, while also recording four strikeouts and only two walks.
o Throw 92 pitches on the night, with 57 being recorded as strikes.
o This was his third quality start of the season. He has recorded those three quality starts in only four starts on the mound.
Thomas McCarthy recorded the Wildcats first hit of the game with a line-drive single through the left side.
o He later came around to score UK’s first run of the game when Luke Maile hit a high fly ball to deep right field, sacrificing in the run.
