Team Records and Series Notes

•    Middle Tennessee improves their record to 3-10 in 2011, while Kentucky falls to 6-7 on the season.
•    Kentucky now has an all-time record of 10-11 against Middle Tennessee. This was the first meeting between these two teams since 1996, when Kentucky knocked off MTSU 11-2 in Lexington.
•    UK head coach Gary Henderson is now 65-58 in his coaching career.
•    Kentucky is now 2-3 following a win this season.
•    The Wildcats are now 1641-824-8 in NCAA play all-time.

Team Game Notes

•    The Cats now have a 1-1 record when wearing their blue jerseys and white pants.
•    Kentucky now has a 6-6 record in their 12 day games on the season.
•    UK is outscoring their opponents 8-1 in the second inning this season.
•    The Wildcats are now 4-2 at Cliff Hagan Stadium in 2011, and 559-324-2 all-time at home.  
•    Kentucky is now 1-1 when playing on Wednesday.
•    The Blue and White are now sitting at .400 with a 2-3 record in the month of March.
•    The lone MSTU run in the fifth inning was the first run UK has allowed in the fifth inning all year.
•    UK is now 2-1 on their current 11-game homestand.
•    Kentucky’s next game is Friday March 11 as the Cats will welcome the Niagara Purple Eagles to Cliff Hagan Stadium for a three game series. Game one will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the Voice of UK Baseball, Neil Price calling the game on WGVN 1580-AM.

Individual Game Notes

•    Taylor Black started his 53rd straight game at shortstop which is a team-high for most consecutive games started at one position.
o    Went 1-for-4 including knocking in two runs.
o    Singled through the left side of the infield to score Paul McConkey for UK’s second run of the game.
•    Paul McConkey started his first ever game as the Wildcat’s designated hitter.
o    He went 1-for-2 at the plate, with two walks and a team-best two runs.
o    Now in the process of a career-high five game hitting streak.
o    Scored the Wildcat’s second run of the game in the seventh inning.
•    Thomas McCarthy started at third base again, making him the only Wildcat to start at third base this season. The only other Wildcat to start every game at one position is Black at shortstop.
o    Now batting .308 on the season including 16 hits.
o    Has safely reached base in 12 of 13 games of his career.
•    Jonathan Paquet made his second start of the season.
o    Faced 18 batters in four innings of work, allowing only two runs, four hits, while recording a career-high five strikeouts and only three walks.
o    Recorded his first career strikeout on four pitches to the first batter he faced in the game. He followed that up by striking out the side in the opening frame.
o    Got out of a two on-two out jam in the top of the third inning with his fifth strikeout of the game.
•    Michael Williams has reached base in eight straight games.
o    Registered the Cats first hit of the afternoon in the second inning.
•    Brian Adams recorded his first career walk in the bottom of the second inning to load the bases with one out.
o    With a single to begin the fifth inning, now is on a team-high seven game hitting streak.
•    Braden Kapteyn scored the Wildcats first run after a wild pitch in the second inning.
•    Chad Wright knocked in his team-high 11th run of the year in the seventh inning, tying the game at three.
