LEXINGTON, Ky. — Including a nationally televised ESPNU SEC Thursday Night Game of the Week tilt at LSU and 10 games on the Fox Sports family of networks, the Kentucky baseball team will play a total of 15 televised games during the 2011 season, it was announced on Tuesday.
The Wildcats will have five games televised by the Big Blue Sports Network on Fox Sports South and on CWKYT-TV (Central Kentucky). BBSN will air midweek games with Tennessee Tech (March 29; 4 p.m. ET), Louisville (April 26; 7 p.m. ET) and Western Kentucky (May 17; 6:30 p.m.), with the game with UL also airing live in Louisville on WMYO-TV, in addition to Fox Sports South. UK’s series with Georgia will also feature two BBSN broadcasts, including the Friday, May 13 game at 6:30 p.m. and the Saturday, May 14 contest, set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
UK will appear as part of the inaugural ESPNU Thursday Night SEC Game of the Week on April 28 at LSU in Baton Rouge, La., with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The Wildcats will also have its Friday contest with the Tigers televised on Cox Sports TV, slated for an 8 p.m. ET first pitch.
As part of UK’s series at the defending NCAA Champion South Carolina Gamecocks, UK’s Friday contest (April 1) will air on Fox Sports South at 7 p.m. ET and the Saturday game (April 2) will air at 4:30 p.m. ET on SportsSouth.
UK will host Auburn in a three-game set to begin its home April schedule, with its Sunday, April 10 contest set for a 1 p.m. ET first pitch and a television broadcast on CSS.
On Saturday, April 23, UK will host its football spring scrimmage at Commonwealth Stadium, with the UK baseball team hosting Arkansas at 7 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium following the football scrimmage, with a television broadcast on Fox Sports South as the Southeastern Conference Game of the Week.
In addition, the Kentucky series at defending SEC Champion Florida, the current consensus top-ranked team in the nation, will be televised on Friday (May 20) at 7 p.m. ET on Fox Sports Florida and on Saturday (May 21) on Fox Sports South as the SEC Game of the Week at 3 p.m. ET in Gainesville, Fla.
Two UK games will appear on Wazoo Sports Network statewide in Kentucky, including the Wildcats win at Morehead State on Feb. 23 and the Kentucky contest at Louisville on April 12 at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Several of UK’s 15 televised games will also be available on ESPN3.com.
Kentucky returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Eastern Kentucky at 4 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The Wildcats will start freshman southpaw Corey Littrell against Eastern Kentucky senior left-hander Paul Duncan. The game will be broadcast live on BBSN (radio), with the Voice of UK baseball, Neil Price, calling the action. Fans in Lexington can hear the game live on WGVN 1580-AM and online at UKathletics.com.
