Men’s basketball: Another chaotic week in men’s basketball has made for another interesting week in the polls. UK checked in at No. 20 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 but No. 23 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Cats are a No. 5 seed in Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology this week. The only problem is the No. 4 seed opposite of UK is a red-hot St. John’s club. Kentucky also has a very strong RPI this point with a ranking of 15th.
Women’s basketball: At least the women’s polls are a little less chaotic. UK Hoops is ranked 16th in both major polls. A strong finish to the Southeastern Conference season improved the Cats’ status in Charlie Creme’s Bracketology. UK is rising No. 4 seed this week. The women rank 18th in the NCAA’s RPI.
Softball: The pollsters look like they’re having a tough time gauging the Kentucky softball team. For the third straight week, UK sits at No. 24 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. Likewise, Kentucky is just outside the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll for a third consecutive week, ranking 26th overall.
Gymnastics: An impressive win over then-No. 20 LSU has moved UK up to No. 26 in the GymInfo national rankings, which are now based on Regional Qualifying Average. The top 36 teams in terms of Regional Qualifying Average make it to regionals, so UK is in pretty good shape heading down the final stretch of the season.
Men’s tennis: UK moved up a spot in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings to No. 12. Seven Southeastern Conference teams dot the top 25. Eric Quigley is ranked No. 5 overall in the nation.
