LEXINGTON, KY – UK freshman Terrence Jones was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Jones, a 6-8 forward from Portland, Ore., averaged 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists in wins over Mississippi State and South Carolina. Jones recorded back-to-back double-doubles and has tallied four double-doubles in the last six games. Jones tied career highs with five assists against Mississippi State and with five offensive rebounds against South Carolina. His 10 defensive rebounds against Mississippi State were the most since pulling down 15 against Notre Dame on Dec. 8.
The awards is Jones’ fifth this season and the 11th for Kentucky.
Kentucky returns to action Wednesday night, traveling to Arkansas. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. ET tip and can be seen live on the SEC Network.
