LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Greg Ferrucci and senior Lisa Faulkner turned in another great performance Saturday on day two of the Southeastern Conference Diving Championships. Ferrucci earned a career-high score of 400.55 in the men’s three-meter board prelims, the second best score in school history. Ferrucci’s score of 400.55 broke his previous career high by nearly 15 points.

In the finals, Ferrucci scored a 367.65 to finish in seventh place overall. Ferrucci finished in fifth place on the one-meter board Friday to have two top-seven finishes on the SEC Diving Championships’ opening two days.

Faulkner had another impressive day as well. After finishing in fourth place on the women’s three-meter board Friday, Faulkner scored a 281.50 in the women’s one-meter prelims, just 1.1 points outside of the top eight which qualify for the finals.

“We had another good day Saturday at the SEC meet,” UK diving coach Ted Hautau said. “Lisa competed very well today and had a terrific effort. She had a lot of juice going in the beginning and over rotated one of her early dives. She settled down and fought hard to the last dive and missed the final by a point. Greg shattered his previous three-meter record and finished second in the preliminaries. He started the finals very strong, got a little out of rhythm during his third and fifth dives, then came back and nailed his last dive to finish seventh. I was pleased to see both of them rebound and show a lot of toughness.”

Also on the men’s side, freshman Zack Peterson earned a score of 271.05 on the men’s three-meter prelims to finish in 24th place. Freshman Corey Cowger scored a career-high 253.25 in the men’s three-meter prelims.

The SEC Diving Championships conclude Sunday with the men’s and women’s platform.
