LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky sophomore golfer Ashleigh Albrecht got off to a fast start at the 56th annual Harder Hall Women’s Invitational in Sebring, Fla., and held on to win the championship division of the tournament with a final round score of even par.

Albrecht opened the tournament held at the Harder Hall Country Club with a course record 9-under par 63. After a second round 2-over par 74, Albrecht bounced back with a 3-under par 69 in the third round to take a share of the lead heading into the final round Saturday.

In the final round, the Murrieta, Calif., native shot an even-par 72 and came out in first place.

Albrecht’s final score of 10-under par was just three strokes off the course record of 13-under par set in 2009.

Albrecht has had a busy schedule in between school semesters. Last week Albrecht competed in the Dixie Amateur held in Coral Springs, Fla. Albrecht finished the fall semester with the second lowest scoring average on the team but wasn’t satisfied with her game and has worked hard in between the two semesters, something her head coach has noticed.

“I am proud of Ashleigh and for how she played down in Florida,” UK head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “I know she wasn’t satisfied with her fall season so it’s nice to see that she has found her game over the break. She has been working hard and it was just a matter of time before she started to go low again.”

The Cats will hit the links again Feb. 13 as a team for the first time in the spring semester in the UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla.
