Kentucky improves to 6-2 on the season. Notre Dame drops its first game, falling to 8-1.
UK is now 42-18 all-time against Notre Dame, 24-9 against the Irish in Louisville and 20-4 against them in Freedom Hall.
The Wildcats are 166-72 against schools comprising the Big East.
UK runs its all-time record in Louisville to 122-33 and 59-18 in Freedom Hall.
Kentucky will be in action again Saturday, Dec. 11, against Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. p.m. ET with the game being televised on ESPN.

Team game notes

The Wildcats used the starting combination of Darius Miller, Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight, DeAndre Liggins and Josh Harrellson for the eighth straight game. Kentucky is 6-2 with that starting five.
Eloy Vargas was the first sub off the bench for Kentucky. It was Vargas’ third time this season to be the first Wildcat off the bench.
Kentucky extended its streak of game with a three-pointer to 757 games, the third longest streak in the country.
Trailing 38-27 at the 4:44 mark of the first half, UK closed the half on a 13-2 run to draw even at the half at 40-40.
It was the first time this season Kentucky was tied going into halftime.
With 26 seconds left in the first half, Notre Dame was whistled for a three-second violation. It was the first three-second violation called in a Kentucky game this season.
This is the second time both Terrence Jones (12) and Brandon Knight (11) scored in double-figures in the first half of the same game. Both did it against Boston.
The Cats scored the first six points of the second half to push their run to 19-2 before Notre Dame hit two free throws.
The Fighting Irish scored their last field goal of the first half at the 5:02 mark and didn’t score from the field again until the 12:38 mark of the second half, a stretch of 12:24 without a field goal.
The UK defense didn’t yield its first field of the second half until the 12:38 mark. They didn’t allow Notre Dame’s second field until the 9:30 mark.
Brandon Knight drew a charge at the 6:49 mark of the second half. It was the second time this season (Doron Lamb) the Wildcats have drawn a charge.
Kentucky is 2-0 against ranked teams this year.
The last time Kentucky had two players score 20 points was in the season opener against East Tennessee State (Terrence Jones 25, Doron Lamb 20).
UK has hit 36 3-pointers in its last four games.
For the second straight game, Kentucky set a season-high from the free throw line, shooting 77.3 pct. (17-22) from the stripe.
