LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky volleyball will take a three-match winning streak in Southeastern Conference action into Sunday’s match at Alabama on Sunday. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. ET. The match will air live on Fox Sports South which marks the second straight Sunday UK will be the featured match on the network.

The Blue and White (14-11, 8-7) used a terrific defensive effort from the floor to hold off an inspired Mississippi State squad Friday evening. The Wildcats notched a season-high 77 digs in the winning effort led by a match-high 21 digs from Stephanie Klefot. Freshman Whitney Billings tallied a career-best 19 digs as a total of four Kentucky players had 12 or more digs in the winning performance. Klefot has now tallied nine career matches with 20 or more digs including seven this season.

Sophomore setter Christine Hartmann posted her second consecutive double-double effort in leading the Wildcats to the win. Hartmann dished out 39 assists while adding 12 scoops. The sophomore also paced the team with a match-best five blocks.

The Tide holds a 9-15 overall record and a 1-13 mark in SEC action. Alabama is paced by Kayla Fitterer’s 3.53 kills per frame. Kelsey Anderson leads the defensive effort with 4.70 digs per set.

Kentucky owns an all-time record of 22-12 over the Tide including a 3-1 victory over Alabama in mid-October.

After dropping the opening set, the Kentucky volleyball team rallied back and capped a 3-1 (15-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-12) victory over Alabama in stylish fashion with a dominating fourth set to clinch the match in front of 1,202 fans at Memorial Coliseum.

Kentucky persevered despite the early deficit and was led by outstanding offensive performances from Billings and junior Becky Pavan. Billings posted her fifth career double-double with a team-high 14 kills and 12 digs. Pavan contributed another super performance after a career day in a win over Arkansas a week ago. Pavan drilled 13 kills on .500 hitting while adding a team-best four blocks. Pavan had committed just two errors in the last eight sets of action.

Hartmann dished out 40 assists and added 12 scoops to earn her fourth career double-double effort. Hartmann found five players for six or more kills and the Blue and White hit .248 for the match. Klefot added her second consecutive match with 21 or more digs with 21 scoops against the Tide.
