Linebacker Danny Trevathan may have lacked a good left hand for the “hands team” during Saturday’s onside kick against Ole Miss, but head coach Joker Phillips said he doesn’t regret using Trevathan, who is playing with a cast on his left arm because of a fractured left hand.”I wouldn’t do it any different,” Phillips said.Trevathan nearly came up with a perfect onside kick from Craig McIntosh in UK’s frantic fourth-quarter comeback. Trevathan got free on the onside kick down the sideline and McIntosh’s bouncing kick took a high hop and bounced right into Trevathan’s arms. The junior linebacker was unable to secure the ball, though, and it bounced out of play.Auburn took over and ran out the clock. Whether or not Trevathan’s cast was to blame for bobbling the kick, we’ll never know.”We want to put our 11 most aggressive athletes on the field,” Phillips said. “Our onside kickoff team is designed for Matt Roark and Winston Guy to receive the kicks, but you’d better have four other guys up front in front of them that are aggressive and going to knock holes in the coverage. Danny was able to slip (through gap) and those two guys weren’t, and he happened to be the guy that gets his hands on the ball. He made a great effort for it.”Sanders moves behind Locke on depth chart: Freshman running back Raymond Sanders has moved into the No. 2 running back spot on the depth chart this week behind Derrick Locke, leapfrogging sophomore Donald Russell.”(Sanders) just fits a little bit more what we’re trying to do with our run game, with our offense,” Phillips said. “This guy catches the ball well. He can go out just like Locke does and play in the pass-receiving position. He’s playing really good on special teams for us. We want to reward guys that are doing those types of things.”Sanders has run the ball 14 times for 86 yards and three touchdowns this season, including five carries for 22 yards Saturday. Against Ole Miss, Sanders was the first backup to enter the game. “He’s a guy that is playing like Locke, so we went with him,” Phillips said. “With all the zone stuff, he reads it a little bit better. With the stretch plays, he’s got the speed to get out there.” Phillips said the depth-chart movement is more of a reflection of what Sanders is doing right than what Russell is doing wrong.”We’re going to need Donald Russell,” Phillips said. “Those guys are really bracketed and depending on what type of game play we go into the game with.”
