LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior linebacker Danny Trevathan and sophomore kicker Craig McIntosh have been named game captains for the Auburn game, Coach Joker Phillips has announced.
Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Trevathan, a native of Leesburg, Fla., is coming off the best game of his career against Ole Miss, as he recorded a personal-best 15 tackles. The junior also recorded two tackles-for-loss against the Rebels. Trevathan is tied for second in the Southeastern Conference and in a tie for 24th in the nation in tackles-for-loss with 1.60 TFL per game. The swift, physical linebacker is in a tie for sixth in the SEC in total tackles, averaging 8.40 stops per game.
McIntosh is also coming off a career game, launching a career-long 50-yard field goal against the Rebels. The native of Lexington, Ky., made two field goals in the game, hitting from 50 and 42 yards, one at the end of the first half to give UK momentum going in at halftime. McIntosh also placed a perfect on-side kick for Kentucky that would have put the Wildcats in key position to make a comeback.
Trevathan and McIntosh will join permanent captains Randall Cobb and DeQuin Evans at the pregame coin toss.
