LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team will head down to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 23rd Roberta Alison Fall Classic, their second fall tournament of the season.
The tournament, which begins Friday, Sept. 24 and concludes Sunday, Sept. 26, will host ten schools including Alabama, Baylor, Georgia State, Memphis, Mississippi State, Samford, Tulane, UAB and UT Martin, as well as Kentucky.
“Our players continue to face our daily practices with a lot of purpose and positivity,” UK head coach Carlos Drada said. “We are looking forward to evaluating our work from the past two weeks and we anticipate a great weekend of competition.”
Competing for the Cats in singles will be senior Megan Broderick, sophomore Jessica Stiles and freshman Khristina Blajkevitch. Kentucky’s doubles teams will be Broderick and Blajkevitch, and Stiles and freshman Marni Venter.
Stiles will look to continue her play in singles after winning two matches during the SEC Fall Coaches Classic, the Cats’ first tournament of the fall season. In doubles play, Stiles teamed up with Broderick to go 2-1 in the same tournament.
The Roberta Alison Fall Classic will begin with two rounds of doubles play on Friday, followed by one round of singles. Saturday will then have the final round of doubles and the second round of singles, with the final round of singles wrapping up on Sunday. Matches will begin at 8 a.m., ET each day, and will be played at both the Alabama Tennis Stadium and Alabama Rec Courts, a total of 18 courts.
Singles draws will include eight individuals while doubles draws will include eight teams, making for three rounds in each. As with all fall tennis tournaments, results will only go toward the players’ individual records, and will not go toward team records.
