LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky men’s soccer freshman defender Dylan Asher and forward Jordan Rose have been ranked among the listing of the top 100 freshmen in collegiate soccer, with Rose tabbed as the 41st best and Asher picked as the 66th-best freshman in the nation in a listing released Thursday by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

Rose, a native of Englewood, Ohio, is in his first season of playing time at Kentucky but is actually a redshirt sophomore. A 6-foot-4, 205-pounder, Rose redshirted as a freshman in 2008 and suffered a season-ending injury during the spring of the 2009 season. Now in his first year on the pitch for UK, Rose has totaled a goal and an assist in his first five career games. Considered a defender entering the season, Rose has proven valuable as a physical offensive option at the top of the UK lineup.

A native of Richardson, Texas, Asher has played all but one minute in his true freshman season, earning seven consecutive starts to open his collegiate career. A 5-10, 165-pound defender, Asher has earned some early season honors, as the UK coaches named him to the all-tournament teams for the UK Invitational and the Gamecock Classic. An athletic talent, Asher has drawn comparisons to former UK two-time All-America defender Barry Rice, in his first year playing for D.C. United in Major League Soccer.
