Team Records and Series Notes

• Kentucky is 2-0.  WKU is 0-2.
• Kentucky leads the series, 2-0.  Both games have been played in Lexington.The 2011 and 2013 games between these teams will be played at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn.  The 2012 matchup returns to Lexington.
• Kentucky stays home next week and will host Akron on Sat. Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. The game will be telecast on Fox Sports South.

UK Team Notes

• In its 120th season of intercollegiate football, Kentucky is now 91-23-6 in home openers and has won the last four in a row.
• Kentucky has won 17 consecutive regular-season non-conference games.
• Kentucky has won eight consecutive games against in-state opponents.
• Kentucky won the toss and elected to defer to the second half.
• Kentucky scored 42 points in the first half.  The last time UK scored 42 points in a half was the 2nd half vs. Kent State, 2007.
• UK’s 63 points were the most points scored in regulation since scoring 77 points vs. UTEP in 2002. UK last scored 63 points vs. Arkansas (7 OTs) in 2003.
• UK rushed for 206 yards after totaling 230 yards rushing at Louisville.  The last time UK rushed for 200+ plus yards in consecutive games were against EKU and Vanderbilt last season.
• UK passed for 276 yards vs. WKU, which was the most since UK passed for 284 yards vs. Arkansas in 2008. Coupled with 236 yards passing in the opener, UK had back-to-back 200+ yards passing games for the first time since the last two games in 2007 (Tennessee, Florida State).
• Kentucky did not turn the ball over for the second straight game. The last time UK posted two consecutive games with no turnovers was last season vs. South Carolina and Auburn.
• Six former Wildcats were inducted into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame, including Mike Casey (men’s basketball), Steve Flesch (men’s golf), Nancy Napolski Johnson (rifle), Bill Lickert (men’s basketball), Valerie McGovern Young (cross country/track) and Tayshaun Prince (men’s basketball).
• UK also recognized its pioneers of integration of Southeastern Conference football, including the family of Greg Page, Nate Northington, Wilbur Hackett and Houston Hogg.  Northington was the first African-American football player in Southeastern Conference history (1967) and Hackett was the first African-American captain in any sport in SEC history (1970).

• Willie McNeal returned a 2nd quarter kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.  The last time WKU returned a kickoff for a TD was Jeremy Chandler’s 96-yard return vs. Youngstown State, Nov. 15, 2003.
• WKU’s Bobby Rainey rushed for 150+ yards for the second straight game. The last time a WKU player rushed for 150+ in consecutive games was Rod Smart (XFL’s He Hate Me) in the 1999 season.

UK Individual Notes

• This was Joker Phillips’ first home game as head coach of the Wildcats. 
• Phillips is the first UK head coach to begin his career 2-0 since Paul “Bear” Bryant in 1946.
• Derrick Locke rushed 21 times for 102 yards, surpassing 100 yards rushing for the second straight game and the fifth time in his career. Rafael Little was the last Wildcat to run for 100 yards in consecutive games in 2007.
• Locke needs 63 rushing yards to become the sixth player in UK history to reach 2,000 rushing yards. He now has 1,937 rushing yards in his career and ranks 7th on UK’s all-time rushing list. He needs 168 more to tie Artose Pinner (1999-02) for 6th place.
• Locke gained 139 all-purpose yards. He now has 3,652 yards in his career and ranks 8th on the all-time all-purpose yard list. He needs 67 more to tie Moe Williams (993-95) for 7th.
• Randall Cobb scored two touchdowns and is now tied for 2nd place on the UK career touchdown list.  Cobb has 27 touchdowns as a Wildcat, tying Rodger Bird, George Adams and Moe Williams.
• Randall Cobb also had a career-high 98 yards receiving.
• Cobb returned a punt for a touchdown, threw a touchdown pass and caught a touchdown pass in today’s game. He now has 162 career points and ranks tied for 10th on UK’s all-time list with Roger Bird (1963-65). He needs 6 more points to move all the way up to 6th place.
• Mike Hartline completed 16-of-20 passes for 213 yards and 3 TDs. He also had three touchdown passes vs. Arkansas in 2008.
• Hartline now has 2,932 career passing yards and ranks 10th on UK’s all-time list. He needs 448 more passing yards to tie Dusty Bonner (1997, 99) for 9th place.
