LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three more Kentucky volleyball matches have been picked up for live telecasts including the UK vs. Louisville match on Sept. 1.
The 2010 Runza/AVCA College Volleyball Showcase will be broadcast nationally on CBS College Sports Network. The event will take place Aug. 28-29 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. With the addition of both of UK’s matches to air nationally on CBS College Sports Network at the Showcase the Blue and White will have a total of four nationally broadcast matches during the 2010 season.
To open the season 14th-ranked Kentucky will take on No. 2 Nebraska at 5:30 p.m. ET. The following afternoon, No. 9 Iowa State and Kentucky will take the floor at 3 p.m.Larry Puteney will call the play-by-play and former Nebraska All-American Kathi Wieskamp will provide color analysis for CBS College Sports Network.
Additionally, WKYT Lexington has added the in-state matchup between the Wildcats and Louisville to the television schedule on Sept. 1 taking place at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. The match has been moved to a 6:30 p.m. ET start time and will air on CWKYT.
The two squads met for the first time a year ago after a three-year hiatus in the series. The match took place in Louisville with the Cardinals taking a dramatic 3-2 victory and snapping the Wildcats’ 10-match winning streak to begin the season.
This will mark the first time the two teams will play each other in Lexington since Nov. 2004.
