Kentucky fans brought incredible fervor to Memorial Coliseum last season as UK finished 14th nationally in average attendance according to the official attendance rankings kept by the NCAA. It marked the seventh-straight season the Wildcats ranked in the top 25 nationally and in the SEC’s top four.

UK averaged 5,624 fans in 17 home games, including 6,424 fans per game in eight SEC contests. The only SEC school with a higher attendance average was Tennessee, which led the nation with 12,896 fans per game. It was the highest overall average attendance ranking for the Cats since the 2006-07 squad was No. 13 with a school-record 5,863 fans per game. Also, a total of 95,615 people passed through the turnstiles, breaking the school’s previous single-season attendance total of 90,663 set during the 2004-05 campaign.

Mitchell to Sing at Moondance Amphitheater: University of Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Matthew Mitchell is not only a talented leader on the basketball court, as evident by being named SEC Coach of the Year last season, but he also is a talented singer. Mitchell, who is the former lead singer of the band known as “Coach Mitchell and the B Team,” will dust off his microphone and take center stage once again when he performs with “The Johnson Brothers” at the Moondance Performing Arts Amphitheater Friday, August 20. The newly built amphitheater is located in the heart of Beaumont Centre on Moonlight Pass. Also performing is Jim Richardson with Reilly Richardson.

The event is free of charge and free hotdogs will be available for children (eighth grade and under) while supplies last. Other concessions will be available for purchase. Inflatable games, the UK cheerleaders and mascots will be present from 6-7 p.m. with the live music beginning at 7 p.m. Bring chairs or picnic blankets and invite your friends and family.
