LEXINGTON, Ky.- Megan Broderick and her partner from Georgia Tech, Irina Falconi, fell in their second round match at the Fifth Third Bank Tennis Championships. The duo was defeated by Jacqueline Cako and Story Tweedie-Yates 4-6, 6-2, (10-3).
After a great 6-4 first set win for Broderick and Falconi, Tweedie-Yates claimed the second set 6-2. In the tie breaker, both pairs started off strong 2-2. Cako and Tweedie-Yates pulled ahead quickly with a 8-2 lead. Broderick/Falconi could only take one more point before Cako/Tweedie-Yates closed the tie breaker at 10-3.
Broderick sees these matches as a great way to prepare for the upcoming year. “Summer tournament always prepare me for the season,” Says Broderick, “It is match play and it is at a higher level. I can use what I’m working on and try to carry it over into the season.”
