LEXINGTON, Ky. — Sophomores Ashleigh Albrecht and Heather Lott are set to compete in the 110th U.S. Women’s Amateur after advancing through sectional qualifying rounds. Albrecht posted a score of 74 on July 12th at Oakmont Country Club (par 71) in Glendale, Calif., and Lott carded a 75 on July 19th at River Oaks Country Club (par 72) in Houston, Texas.

This marks the third consecutive year Albrecht, a native of Murrieta, Calif., has qualified for the event. In 2008, Albrecht earned an appearance after carding a 72 to place first in a sectional qualifier. Behind a 7-over-par 149 (73-76) in stroke-play competition, Albrecht advanced to match play in the 2009 event, where she ultimately fell 3-and-2 in the round of 64.

Lott, a native of Baton Rouge, La., is set to make her tournament debut.

The 110th U.S. Women’s Amateur is set to take place Aug. 9-15 in Charlotte, N.C., at the Charlotte Country Club (6,560 yards, par 72).

Albrecht led the Wildcats with a 76.59 stroke average for 2009-10. Owning UK’s two highest finishes of the season, Albrecht tied for sixth at the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational (77-70) and took eighth at the squad’s regular-season finale, the Anteater Invitational (75-75-73).

Lott made five starts during the 2009-10 season, registering two top-20 performances with a tie for 17th at the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational (74-76) and taking 20th at the Anteater Invitational (77-75-78).

Albrecht at Lott Take Derby Cup at 110th WWGA National Amateur Championship

Sophomores Ashleigh Albrecht and Heather Lott combined to claim the Derby Cup at the 110th Women’s Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship held June 21-26 at Rochester Golf and Country Club in Rochester, Minn., (par 73, 6,125 yards).

The Amateur Championship consists of 36 holes of stroke-play and match-play competition. The Derby Cup is awarded to two players from the same club who combine for the lowest stroke-play score. Albrecht (74-76–150) and Lott (77-77—154) represented the University Club of Kentucky, the home club of the University of Kentucky.
