LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second straight year, UK head coach John Calipari and his staff pulled in the top rated recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.com.
According to Rivals, Kentucky has four five-star prospects and a couple of four-star prospects joining the 2010-2011 roster.
Joining the Wildcats next season are Enes Kanter (Rivals No. 3), Brandon Knight (Rivals No. 6), Terrence Jones (Rivals No. 13), Doron Lamb (Rivals No. 21), Stacey Poole (Rivals No. 33) and Miami-Dade community college transfer Eloy Vargas who was named the 2010 Southern Conference Player of the Year.
Calipari’s first recruiting class at Kentucky last season also netted Rivals’ top ranking. It included John Wall (Rivals No. 1), DeMarcus Cousins (Rivals No. 2), Daniel Orton (Rivals No. 22), Eric Bledsoe (Rivals No. 23), Jon Hood (Rivals No. 40) and junior college transfer Darnell Dodson.
In addition, Knight, a two-time Gatorade National Player of the Year, was named a first team All-American recently by Slam Magazine while Jones and Kanter both received Slam Magazine Honorable Mention All-America honors.
Knight also won the Miami Herald’s 3A-1A Basketball Player of the Award for the fourth consecutive season and the Overall Male Athlete of the Year Award for the second straight time.
