LEXINGTON, Ky. — Former Kentucky men’s soccer student-athletes Tim Crone, Jason Griffiths, Chad Hagerty, Bingy Lara, Tim Muessig, Marco dos Santos, George Davis IV and Bingy Lara all participated in graduation ceremonies after completing their academic careers.
Kentucky graduated several players during graduation ceremonies held at Heritage Hall in downtown Lexington.
“We are proud of all of our guys and have no doubts that all will go on to great success in the next chapter of their lives,” UK head coach Ian Collins said.
Crone, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio., had a distinguished career in 53 games and 20 starts, totaling 12 goals and five assists, including six game-winning goals. In 2009, Crone totaled two goals and two assists, with his two goals serving as game winners.
A native of Bracknell, England, Griffiths was a four-year starter, playing in 64 games and 65 starts, with 12 goals and 10 assists, including a perfect 8-of-8 in penalty kick attempts.
Lara has served in a variety of roles in the soccer program, including serving as a student-assistant coach last season while completing his academic requirements. Lara, a native of Las Cruces, N.M., played in 47 games during his four-year career (2005-08). Lara totaled four assists and two goals in his career.
Dos Santos, a native of Brazil, was named Conference USA Newcomer of the Year in 2008, his first season in Lexington. Last season, dos Santos totaled a goal and three assists and now owns six goals and eight assists in his two years.
Muessig, a native of Lexington, Ky., and graduate of Paul Dunbar High School, was a fixture in the defensive backline for the Wildcats the last two seasons after transferring to UK. Muessig, who started his career at Western Kentucky and transferred after the program was disbanded, played in 39 games with 39 starts, totaling one assist.
Hagerty, a native of Louisville, Ky., totaled 27 starts in 50 games during his career, with nine assists and four goals. At the 2010 Catspy Awards, Hagerty was named the Male Student Athlete of the Year after graduating with a 3.97 GPA.
Davis played in 26 career games and started one, charting two goals and three assists, firing 20 career shots. A transfer from Bowling Green, Davis had a career game in his final college contest against Tulsa at the 2009 C-USA Championship, including notching a goal.
