LEXINGTON, Ky. – Wide receiver Dicky Lyons, Jr., has signed a National Football League free-agent contract with the Denver Broncos.

Lyons played for the Wildcats in 2004 and 2006-08.  He ranks fifth in school history in pass receptions (141), fourth in receiving yardage (1,752) and third in touchdown catches (18).  Career highs included 12 catches vs. Middle Tennessee as a senior, along with a 124-yard, three-touchdown game vs. Florida during his junior season.  He was the first player in school history to catch two TD passes in three consecutive games, which he accomplished at the opening of his ’06 sophomore campaign.

Lyons’ senior season was cut short because of a knee injury and subsequent surgery.  Recovery from the injury limited his professional chances in 2009 but he has continued to gain speed and strength, leading to his current opportunity with the Broncos.

Lyons has been added to a Denver roster that includes two other former Wildcats, linebackers Wesley Woodyard and Braxton Kelley.
