LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team readies for their last Southeastern Conference weekend road trip. The Wildcats will face No. 15 South Carolina on Friday, April 2 at 2 p.m. ET and then No. 3 Florida on Sunday April 4 at 1 p.m. ET.

Kentucky will be challenged by South Carolina (12-3, 5-1 SEC) and Florida (18-2, 6-0 SEC). The Wildcats hold a 16-12 overall record against the Gamecocks while the Gators have conquered the Blue and White 31 out of 33 times in their history. In 2009, South Carolina (No. 20) bested the Wildcats (No. 25) 4-2, and then-No. 14 Kentucky hammered the then-No. 31 Gators 4-3.

Senior Christine Johnston looks to improve her respectable 10-6, 4-2 SEC singles record and continue a four match hot streak. The Wildcat captain most recently claimed wins over Auburn’s Myrthe Molenveld (6-2, 7-6 (8-6)) and Alabama’s Meritt Emery (6-3, 6-1).

UK’s top singles player, Megan Broderick (No. 98), hopes to gain momentum toward the SEC tournament after defeating 39th-ranked Alexa Guarachi of Alabama on March 28.

The Gamecocks and Gators both took down two SEC West rivals this past weekend. South Carolina overpowered Mississippi State 4-3 and Ole Miss 5-0. Florida swept Mississippi State 7-0 and Ole Miss 6-1.
