LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team remains listed in the top 10 for the sixth consecutive week, coming in at No. 9 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll on Tuesday.

Kentucky (11-6, 2-2 SEC) was ranked sixth in last week’s poll, falling three spots after hard-fought losses over the weekend at then-No. 9 Georgia and then-No. 2 Tennessee. The Wildcats’ No. 6 spot was their highest ranking since the 2002 campaign.

UK has defeated sixth ranked teams this season, with triumphs over Virginia (then-No. 2), Illinois (then-No. 13), Ole Miss (then-No. 15), Wake Forest (then-No. 16), Mississippi State (then-No. 40) and Michigan (then-No. 41).

The Wildcats also boast two top-40 ranked singles players and one top-15 ranked doubles tandem. Sophomore Eric Quigley fell two spots in the rankings after suffering two losses to ranked opponents the last two weeks. The native of Pewee Valley, Ky., did post two wins against top-100 ranked opponents, including a win over Georgia’s then-No. 29 Javier Garrapiz. The sophomore has not been ranked outside the top 10 all season.

Fellow sophomore Alex Musialek stayed stationary in the standings at the No. 37 position. The native of Dax, France has played strong tennis the last two weeks for the Wildcats, posting a 3-1 record with wins over two ranked singles players including Tennessee’s No. 32 Boris Conkic.

Quigley and junior Brad Cox are ranked 15th in the new poll in doubles, their lowest doubles ranking of the season.

Kentucky returns to action on Friday when they travel to Miami, Fla., to face the No. 45 Miami Hurricanes. The match is scheduled to start at 1 P.M. ET. UK returns home on Sunday to face No. 56 Auburn at 1 P.M. ET at Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
