MOBILE, Ala. — After the first 18 holes of golf in the 54-hole Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, Kentucky men’s golf freshman Chase Parker sits in a tie for 19th after shooting a 1-over-par 74 to lead the Wildcats at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday. Kentucky is 15th overall.
Parker, a native of Augusta, Ga., played brilliant golf in the first 18 hole on Sunday, gathering in two birdies on the round. The freshman currently sits in the top 20 in the tournament and is looking for his second top-20 finish on the season after finishing tied for 14th at the Hummingbird Invitational.
Sophomore Chase Carpenter also scored a 1-over-par in the first round and sits tied with Parker for 19th. The tournament marks the first of the year for Carpenter, who also birdied two holes on the round. Carpenter is playing as an individual in the tournament.
Senior Ben Fuqua is in a tie for 55th after a 77 in the first round. Fuqua is followed by fellow senior Jordan Blann sitting in a tie for 68th after shooting a 78 in the first round. Junior Brian Belden and sophomore Mads Kristensen sit in a tie for 77th and 82nd respectfully.
