BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Justin Max and junior Chatham Penrod were named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team it was announced by the league office. This marks the first such honor for both athletes in their careers.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community in superior service efforts.

Max has participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the YMCA Splash Event, Special Olympics, UK Athleties Canned Food Drive and God’s Pantry Food Drive throughout his career. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio, native is also an All-SEC Academic team member.

Penrod’s community service efforts include volunteering for the Susan G. Komen Race for Cure, Walk a Child to School Day, Special Olympics, UK Athletes Canned Food Drive, God’s Pantry Food Drive, Jesus Prom, Bingo Volunteer and Dance Blue. Earlier this season Penrod claimed SEC Athlete of the Week honors. The junior currently holds the UK school record in the 100-backstroke and is a three-time member of the All-SEC Academic team.
