LEXINGTON, Ky. – The undefeated University of Kentucky women’s basketball team (5-0) will play host to McNeese State (2-2) Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. EST in Memorial Coliseum. The game will be broadcast live on the Big Blue Sports Network with Neil Price. Fans that show their UK-Tennessee football game ticket will receive free admission to the game, while supplies last.

A Wildcat victory against McNeese State would give Kentucky a school-record six wins in November. Kentucky tied the school mark set by the 1984-85 squad on Wednesday with a 68-54 road win at UC Santa Barbara.

“I’ve been very pleased with our focus and defensive play in our first five games,” UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell said. “McNeese Sate is a very athletic team and we’ll have to bring that same focus again Saturday. Offensively, I’d like to see us shoot the ball better than we have in the last couple of weeks but if we remain defensive-minded, the offense will come.”

The Wildcats’ defense forced 25 Gaucho turnovers and converted those miscues into 22 points. All-Southeastern Conference second team preseason selection Victoria Dunlap (Nashville, Tenn.) led UK with 17 points, five rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes. The junior forward has scored in double figures in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Fellow post player senior forward Lydia Watkins (Hopkinsville, Ky.) came off the bench to contribute a season-high 10 points four rebounds and two steals while junior point guard Amber Smith (Winter Haven, Fla.) handed out a season-best seven assists.

Saturday’s contest marks the first meeting in series history with McNeese State.

The Cowgirls are coming off a 63-41 road win at Houston State on Tuesday. Junior Kiara Johnson netted a game-high 25 points and leads McNeese State in scoring with 15.8 points per game. She is tied for team honors in rebounding with 6.8 per game.

Brooks Donald Williams is in her third season as the head coach at McNeese State. The Jennings, La., native is a 2000 graduate of Mississippi State.

Single-game general admission tickets are available for just $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and children 6-18. Ages five and under are admitted free. UK students, faculty and staff also are admitted free with valid identification based on availability.

Parking is available in E-Lots surrounding Memorial Coliseum and Parking Structure #5 located next to Kennedy’s Bookstore. PS#5 will remain open for vehicle entry until 2:30 p.m. EST. Walk-in doors will remain open the entire day. After the women’s basketball game as vehicles pull up to the lowered metal gates they will automatically raise to allow exit. For Saturday’s game, parking also is available in the R-1 lot north of the Coliseum.
