MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Despite a strong outing from freshman Katie Fretts and senior Ashley Jackson, the second-ranked Kentucky rifle team suffered a 4691-4642 loss at No. 1 West Virginia, the defending NCAA Champion, on Saturday at the WVU Rifle Range.

Fretts tallied a 588 in air rifle, with Jackson totaling a team-high 592. UK sophomore Ethan Settlemires finished with a 583 in air rifle and a 580 in smallbore, while Fretts led the team with a 581 in smallbore on the white squad. Sophomore Megan English also added a 590 in air rifle for the white team and junior Logan Fox charted a 580 in air rifle on the grey squad.

Also on the first-team, All-American Tom Csenge was held well below his usual output, churning out a 573 in smallbore and a 585 in air rifle. Senior Jen Pason had a 570 in smallbore, while Jackson finished with a 571 in smallbore. Freshman Heather Greathouse, competing on the white squad, totaled a 583 in air rifle and a 575 in smallbore.

Kentucky (5-2) wraps up its fall season with the match and will next compete against Army in West Point, N.Y., on Jan. 21.
