WINDERMERE, Fla. — Improving on his first round score by three strokes, Kentucky men’s golf junior Brian Belden carded a Wildcat best score in round two of 4-over-par 76, while posting four birdies at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on Monday.
Belden, who birdied three of the final nine holes, currently sits in a tie for 48th heading into the final round. The native of Emmaus, Pa., who started the second round on the back nine, shot an impressive 1-under-par on the front nine to wrap up the second round of play.
Senior Jordan Blann, who was the leading Wildcat heading into the second round, carded a 7-over-par 79 in the second round. The native of Bowling Green, Ky., sits tied for 53rd. He is followed by fellow senior Ben Fuqua, who shot a 77 in the second round. Fuqua is tied for 60th.
Junior James Kania and freshman Joseph Barr wrap up the Kentucky rotation. Kania heads into the third round tied for 68th. Barr is one stroke behind Kania and sits in a tie for 70th.
Kentucky as a team is in 15th. No. 1 Oklahoma State is leading the tournament, while Alabama’s Bud Cauley is in the lead for the individual title.
Play was delayed 30 minutes on Monday due to heavy fog early in the morning. The third and final round will be played Tuesday.
