LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior tailback Derrick Locke has been named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Locke returned four kickoffs for 191 yards, including a 100-yard jaunt for a touchdown, in Kentucky’s 31-27 win over in-state rival Louisville. He became the first player in UK history, and the third in SEC history, to have two 100-yard TDs in his career. He also had a 100-yarder last season vs. Western Kentucky.
Locke’s 191 kickoff return yards broke the UK single game record of 185 set by Keenan Burton in 2006 vs. Louisville. Locke had 310 all-purpose yards in the game, including 47 receiving yards and 72 rushing yards and a TD.
Locke is the first Wildcat to be named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week since Keenan Burton vs. Mississippi State in 2006.
Locke, Seiber Honored by “College Football Performance Awards”: Tailback Derrick Locke and kicker Lones Seiber were honored by the “College Football Performance Awards” for their accomplishments against Louisville.
Locke was named “Kickoff Returner Performer of the Week” after returning four kickoffs for a school-record 191 yards, including a 100-yard touchdown return. He became the first player in school history to have two 100-yard kickoff returns in a career.
Seiber was honorable-mention “Kickoff Specialist Performer of the Week” after averaging 69.3 yards per kickoff against the Cardinals.

Alabama Game Selected by SEC Network: The Alabama at Kentucky game on Oct. 3 has been selected for live telecast by the SEC Network. Game time is 12:21 p.m.
The SEC Network is the group of over-the-air television stations that carries a league game each week, similar to the former Raycom Sports network. The game will be televised throughout the South and in selected markets across the nation, including WKYT in Lexington, WAVE in Louisville, WBKO in Bowling Green and WPSD in Paducah.
