BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kentucky senior setter Sarah Rumely was named the Southeastern Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Rumely was tremendous in helping UK to the third tournament title of the season and her second most valuable player honor in as many weeks. Rumely paced UK’s attack to an impressive .269 average, including two above .300 matches. UK used a .303 average against Big 10 member Purdue and .365 against Portland in its victories.

UK went 4-0 on the week including a 3-1 victory over its first top-25 ranked team of the season in No. 21 Kansas State.

Rumely posted five kills on a perfect hitting percentage in the win over the Boilermakers and her distribution of the ball accounted for seven players to tally 10 or more kills for the week. Additionally, Rumely contributed with 23 kills of her own with a blazing .442 clip in the four victories for the week. Her seven kills against Cincinnati is a season-high. Kentucky has out-hit their opponents in all 10 victories this season and is averaging nearly .300 hitting for the season. Rumely stands just five service aces shy of holding the school record after tallying three more this week.

This is the first SEC weekly honor of the season for the Wildcats. Rumely was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week once in her junior campaign and was a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week award winner in 2006.

The Wildcats are 10-0 to begin the year for just the third time in school history. Kentucky takes its winning streak on the road for two matches this week.Kentucky travels to Louisville on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Match time is set for 7 p.m. ET.
