Kettering, Ohio – Sophomore Laura McGehee finished tied for 14th, and second in the amateur division at The First Federal Bank Ohio Women’s Open last week at Kettering Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. At the event, McGehee fired a 36-hole 153.
McGehee posted an 81 after the first round of competition, but stormed back after the second round with a 1-over-par 72. McGehee’s second day performance marks her career low round.
“This is a breakout performance for Laura,” head coach Myra Blackwelder said. “She will have an opportunity to continue her progress in the fall.”
Last season, McGehee made her collegiate debut at the Lady Mocs Invitational where she competed as an individual. There, she recorded a top-20 finish.
