INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior UK swimmer Tyler Reed claimed 19th overall in the 200-freestyle at the 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships Wednesday in Indianapolis.

Reed, appearing in the “C” final of the evening’s competition captured third in his heat with a time of 1:50.55, just a shade off of the winning tap of 1:50.00. USA’s Michael Phelps took first overall among all competitors in the event with a time of 1:44.23.

The junior for the Wildcats touched in 20th in the preliminary heats earlier in the day. In that race he secured a career-best clip with a time of 1:50.51. Reed entered the meet with a 1:52.03 seed. He shaved nearly two seconds off of his time in the two races.
