LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s golf team is set to play in its fifth appearance in the last six years at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla., for the NCAA Regionals May 14 through 16.
In deciding to go with the consistent spring season starters, head coach Brian Craig has slated both seniors, Ben Fuqua and Andy Winings, as well as Jordan Blann, James Kania and Mads Kristensen to represent the Wildcats.
Among the 14-team regional field, Kentucky will face two Southeastern Conference foes, South Carolina and 2009 SEC Champion, Georgia, in the 54-hole regional tournament.
The top five teams and the top individual from each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championships held at the Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio, May 26-30.Red Tail Golf Club – Sorrento, Florida Hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Central Florida Sports Commission Teams (seeded in the following order): 1. Heading into NCAA regional play, the Wildcats have finished in top 10 of every tournament during the spring 2009 season, including capturing the tournament title at the second-annual UK Bluegrass Invitational.
