UK Women's Soccer Adding 11 for 2009

LEXINGTON, KY – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team has announced its 2009 class as announced by head coach Jon Lipsitz on Monday.
Included in the class are four players from within the state of Kentucky.
“While I did not recruit this class of great players and young women, it has been a pleasure getting to know them,” said Lipsitz. “I look forward to coaching them in the fall and know that they will arrive fit and ready to contribute to our success.”

Jessie Craig, from Noblesville, Ind., is a senior at Noblesville High School. She played club ball for the Carmel United Fire, who she helped guide to four state championships and three top five finishes in Midwest Regional League play. Craig, who helped lead her high school team to a 68-7-2 record during her four years, is a two-time All-American, most recently being named an ESPN Second Team All-American this season.
Mackenzie Farmery, a native of Cumming, Ga., is a senior at South Forsyth High School, and plays her club ball for the Atlanta Fire United. She helped lead United to the championship game of the 2008 Disney Showcase as well as a State Cup semifinal finish is 2008. Farmery was also a member of the 2005 and 2006 Super Y South Atlantic championship teams with United.
Samantha Johnson, from Austin, Texas, is home-schooled. A member of the Lonestar Soccer Club, Johnson was a part of the 2008 ODP Region III pool. She also helped lead her club team to four straight STYSA WDDOA championships from 2005-08.
Brooke Keyes, a native of Mission Viejo, Calif., is currently a senior at Laguna Hills High School. A member of the Laguna Niguel Soccer Club, Keyes helped lead her club team to the Girls U17 Gold Division championship as well as a gaining a victory over the Costa Rican Girls U17 National team in an exhibition game. In addition, Keyes was named a First Team All-Pacific Coast Conference performer this season.
Brandi Levi, from nearby Versailles, is currently a senior from Woodford County High School where she helped lead the Fighting Yellow Jackets to a state semifinal run in her senior year and a state runner-up finish her junior year. Levine plays her club ball with the Bluegrass Soccer Club, who claimed the 2008 Kick in the Bluegrass Championship and was a finalist in the 2008 St. Mary’s Soccer Classic. Levi was a 2008 All-State performer and was named All-Region in back-to-back seasons in 2007 and 2008.
Catherine Ransdell, a local product from Lexington, is a senior at Henry Clay School. She helped lead the Blue Devils to a district championship and a regional runner-up her senior season while being named an All-District performer as well as team MVP and captain. The daughter of former UK football quarterback Bill Ransdell, Catherine plays her club ball with the Commonwealth Soccer Club.
Kirsten Robinson hails from Birmingham, Ala., where she’s a senior at Homewood High School. Robinson played her club soccer with the BUSA ’91 Elite where she helped lead the team to the 2008 Disney Soccer Classic U18 championship as well as a No. 15 national ranking. Robinson also trained and competed in Denmark where she scored six international goals in the Dana Cup.
Kaley Seldon hails from Louisville, Ky., where she’s attending Ballard High School. Seldon plays her club ball with Javanon, who she has helped lead to four straight Kentucky State Cup championships from 2005-08. A First Team All-Region performer her senior season, Seldon was also a West All-State Team honorable mention.
Georgia Swanson, a native of Alpharetta, Ga., is a senior at Alpharetta High School. Swanson, a member of the Atlanta Fire United, was a member of the Georgia State ODP squad from 2007-08. She helped lead the United to the finals of the 2009 Disney Showcase, while also playing in the Region 3 Premier League from 2004-08.
Alyssa Telang, a native of Shelby Township, Mich. Telang played her club ball for the Michigan Hawks. She helped lead the Hawks to the 2008 and 2009 State Cup Championship. Prior to play with the Hawks, she was a member of the Michigan Gators, who she helped lead to the 2007 State Cup championship game, and the 2006 State Cup Championship. A member of the Michigan state Olympic Development Program (ODP) team from 2002-2008, Telang is a member of the Region II ODP. As a junior, she was named to the Michigan All-State Dream Team, as well as being named a First Team All-State performer.
Leslie Twehues, a native of Ft. Thomas, Ky., is currently attending Highlands High School. A member of the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy club team, Twehues helped lead her club team to six Ohio State Cup championships as well as four Midwest Regional championships and four US Club Regional championships. Twehues, who will reunite with Highlands alums and current Wildcats Sydney Hiance and Alicia Browning, was also a two-time All-State performer.
