ATHENS, Ga. – Coming off a record-breaking performance in Baton Rouge, La., the University of Kentucky women’s golf team looks to tally another top-10 finish against a competitive field at the 37th Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, on March 27-29 at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
“The team is looking forward to the challenge of playing a very strong field of competitors on a tough golf course,” head coach Myra Blackwelder said. “Our focus for the tournament will be continuing to work on the basics: hitting fairways, greens, chipping and putting.”
No. 44 Kentucky will compete against 18 teams: No. 6 Alabama, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 7 Auburn, Coastal Carolina, Florida State, No. 8 Georgia, Kansas, No. 28 Kent State, No. 9 LSU, No. 14 Michigan State, No. 38 Ole Miss, Mississippi State, No. 13 North Carolina, No. 24 Ohio State, No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Virginia and No. 12 Wake Forest.
After leading the Wildcats at the LSU Golf Classic, Alyssa Randolph returns to the greens looking to claim another top-10 finish. Joining the Knoxville, Tenn., native is fellow freshman Ashlee Rose who shot a career low 70 in Baton Rouge, La.
Senior Mallory Blackwelder will make her second appearance at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic as the only Wildcat veteran of the tournament. Rounding out the roster are juniors Sara Hurwitch and Erica Still.
The three-day tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,335-yard University of Georgia Golf Course. Tee times on Friday will begin at 9 a.m. ET with Kentucky teeing off at 9:50 a.m. ET. Live scoring is available on www.golfstat.com.
