OXFORD, Miss. — Behind freshman Ethan Settlemires and junior Ashley Jackson, the Kentucky rifle team posted a match-best 2310 in smallbore, to lead the field after the first day of the Great American Rifle Conference Championships, held at the Patricia C. Lamar National Readiness Center.
Kentucky (10-1, 6-0 GARC) resumes competition in air rifle Sunday in Oxford. The Wildcats led the field with the 2310, ahead of West Virginia (2295), Nebraska (2293), Army (2256), Ole Miss (2254) and Memphis (2244).
Settlemires led the way with a 579 in his first GARC Championship appearance. Jackson totaled a team-best 580, with Jen Pason finishing with a 578 in smallbore. Senior Andrew Roland finished with a 576 in smallbore, with Tom Csenge totaling a 575.
