The Greater Louisville University of Kentucky Alumni Club’s 2008 UK Pre-Game Pep Rally will take place at the Kentucky Expo Center’s North Wing Lobby on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 10 to noon – prior to the UK-Appalachian State game at noon at Freedom Hall.
The Pep Rally, sponsored by Lightyear Network Solutions, will feature Fun, Food and Festivities for the entire family.
The bash will include UK’s Cheerleaders, Dance Team, Pep Band and Wildcat Mascot, in addition to music, a basketball-toss game, free face-painting and more.
The first 2,000 fans at the event will receive a free, flashing “Go CATS!” button, courtesy of Lightyear, a national wireless and wireline services provider founded and based in Louisville.
“The Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club is pleased to once again host an exciting Pep Rally prior to the Cats taking on Appalachian State,” said club president Susan Mountjoy. “Please join us for the pre-game festivities as we get revved up to cheer the Cats on to victory.”
“We are excited to partner with the local UK Alumni Club again this year for this fun Pep Rally,” said Lightyear founder, president and CEO Sherman Henderson. “It will be a great event, so come early to receive a free UK flashing button from Lightyear.”
At the Pep Rally, there will be a variety of food and beverages available for purchase. A cash bar will serve beer and offer build-your-own Bloody Marys, screwdrivers and mimosas. Food for sale will include pork chop sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, nachos, deli sandwiches and more. Breakfast/brunch food will include sausage biscuits, pastries, fruit cups and coffee.
Admission is free for UK Alumni Association members who present their membership card. Admission is only $5 for non-members and free for children 12 and under. For more information, please contact event coordinator Jim Denny.
