LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky gymnastics team signed Bethany Larimer of Carrollton, Texas, to a national letter-of-intent during the fall signing period and also welcome 2010 walk-on Caitlin Satkowiak of Westerville, Ohio, head coach Mo Mitchell announced this week.
“Bethany is a very strong all-around athlete,” Mitchell said. “She will make an immediate impact in the championship team that we are building. She is a great student with a great work ethic. Bethany is definitely the type of student-athlete that we want in our program.”
Larimer is a Level 10 gymnast from Richardson Gymnastics in Richardson, Texas. She was a junior open national qualifier in 2007, medaling on the uneven bars. She was also a national qualifier in 2005 and 2006.
The Texas native is set to graduate in May 2009. She is the daughter of Angie and Gregg Larimer.
Satkowiak, a Level 10 gymnast who competes for Buckeye Gymnastics under coaches Kittia Carpenter, Li Li, Becky Boggette and Luke Wasson, most recently placed second on the floor exercise at Region V The Cup. She was also named to the Central Ohio All-District Team in 2005-06 and placed first on beam at the U.S. Coaches Cup-Level 10 in 2004-05. The Ohio native previously qualified junior pre-elite and child national elite.
“She’s going to be an excellent piece to our puzzle that we are putting together,” Mitchell said. “We look forward to having her help us out on a number of events.”
Satkowiak will graduate in June 2009 from St. Francis DeSales. She is the daughter of Wendy and Mike Satkowiak.
