FORT WORTH, Texas — Led by Ashley Jackson’s 594 in air rifle and Tom Csenge’s match-high 1169 overall score, the Kentucky rifle team posted a 4647-4636 win over TCU, on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Jackson posted an impressive 594 to lead the field in air rifle on Saturday, joining freshman Ethan Settlemires (590) as Wildcats breaking 590. Csenge, a two-time All-American in 2007-08, posted a match-best 1169 total score, with a 589 in air rifle and a team-best 580 in smallbore. Senior Andrew Roland equaled Csenge for the team lead in smallbore, a 580, using a 199 in prone and a 196 in kneeling.

“Overall, it was a good win, but we have some work to do to improve our smallbore numbers,” Kentucky head coach Harry Mullins said. “I was hoping for a lot more in smallbore today, although low numbers are not the result of a lack of effort – sometimes too much effort in forcing things to happen can lead to low numbers. I was very proud of Ashley, Tom and Ethan in air rifle, while Andrew and Tom posted solid 580’s in smallbore.”

Kentucky (5-1) has one lone loss on the year, at the hands of two-time defending NCAA Champion Alaska-Fairbanks. Rounding out the UK starting lineup, Megan English tallied a 575 in air rifle and a 569 in smallbore, while Jen Pason finished with a 570 in smallbore.

“The biggest thing we learned about our team today is that we can not give in to emotion and we have to focus going into every shot,” Mullins detailed. “We will have to take this number and work on it over the next two months.”

Settlemires tallied a 576 in smallbore to highlight the white squad, with Leslie Angeli posting a 580 and Sarah Broeker tallying a 581 in air rifle.

The match wraps up the fall season for Kentucky, who returns to collegiate match action against Murray State on Jan. 17.
