LEXINGTON, Ky. — After posting solid scores in both air rifle and smallbore, freshman Megan English has been named the Kentucky rifle shooter of the match, head coach Harry Mullins announced.

English, a freshman from Colorado, totaled a 589 in air rifle and a 583 in smallbore during UK’s wins over Army and Memphis last weekend. English’s 197 in smallbore prone helped boast her score to a match-high 1172. Only Tom Csenge, a two-time All-American in 2007-08, posted a better air rifle score, a 590.

“Megan had a personal-best in smallbore and shot well in air rifle,” Mullins said. “I was very proud of the way Megan performed this weekend. She has definitely starter to put together some solid performances. She has been struggling with a few shots that keep her from getting the numbers she wants. If she stays at this pace and works to avoid the weak shots, she will see some really good numbers. Megan is a very hard worker and has tremendous focus.”

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday, facing West Virginia at UK’s Barker Hall.
